About
Sweet Peas Daycare

Welcome to Sweet Peas Daycare! At Sweet Peas Family Daycare, we believe every child deserves a nurturing environment where they feel safe, loved, and inspired to grow. Guided by our philosophy of “Care and Companionship,” we provide more than just supervision — we offer a home-like atmosphere where children are supported emotionally, socially, and creatively. Our bilingual program in English and Chinese introduces children to both languages naturally through play, stories, and daily interaction, helping build strong communication skills from an early age. We place a strong emphasis on balanced nutrition, offering freshly prepared meals that support healthy development and instill lifelong habits of wellness. Creative expression is at the heart of our approach. We foster artistic growth through music, painting, and imaginative activities, encouraging each child’s natural curiosity and love for beauty. At Sweet Peas, your child is not only cared for — they are seen, heard, and celebrated.

Q&A

We value artistic development. Music is not just melody; it carries strong emotional resonance and is a full-brain activity. It helps cultivate a child’s temperament, improves coordination between the left and right hands, and nurtures sensitivity to music from an early age. It also promotes brain development, language acquisition, emotional regulation, physical coordination, creativity, and social connection—making it a comprehensive form of education.

We know many daycares place mats on the floor for children to nap on. While simple, this is not the healthiest approach for children. Our beds are specially selected, with a very low height (8–10 cm). Even if a child rolls off while sleeping, we have thick mats on the floor to prevent injury. Sleeping on a raised bed also keeps children from direct contact with the ground, helping them stay warm and healthy.

Our lunches are prepared daily by an in-house cook who holds a valid food safety certificate. All meals strictly follow our menu and ingredient standards, ensuring children enjoy fresh and healthy food every day.

According to the California Department of Social Services’ licensing requirements, each child in a licensed family childcare home must have at least 35 square feet of indoor activity space. We accept only 4–6 children, so our activity space far exceeds the required standard. Parents can rest assured.

Given the building type of our daycare, our outdoor space is indeed smaller than average. However, we have a hands-on playhouse, water play toys, a sandbox, outdoor tables and chairs, and more. These encourage hands-on learning while allowing children to enjoy sunshine, fresh air, and opportunities to build practical skills.

We recommend full-time attendance to help children build consistent routines and habits, and to strengthen their bond with us. However, we understand family needs and do accept part-time attendance of 2–3 days per week. Tuition is $85/day, payable monthly.

We use Bright Wheel to share updates during naptime, including your child’s daily activities, photos, payment reminders, and supply needs (diapers, sunscreen, etc.). Cameras are installed indoors for safety; in case of an incident, we can save and provide recordings to the relevant authorities. For privacy reasons, we do not provide live viewing access to parents.

Our philosophy is care and companionship, helping children develop healthy habits. We integrate play with learning. A daily curriculum is available on our website homepage (subject to occasional adjustments).

We enroll 4–6 children in total. At present, three children are already on the waiting list.

We have three teachers. One is the daycare owner, formerly a designer, who now teaches children drawing and writing. Another is the owner’s wife, a music education major who loves children, values cleanliness, and has always dreamed of working in early childhood education. The third is a young art teacher we hire externally, who previously taught art to children in China.

If you, like us, value your child learning Chinese, then we share the same philosophy. We primarily teach in Chinese to help children gain quick comprehension. For families with concerns, we can also use English during the transition period to support communication.
